Family & Consumer Science

Henry County has a strong background with area agencies and networking on behalf of family programs. Program area focuses address health and safety, chronic conditions, human development, food and nutrition, and personal finance.

Educational programs focus on strengthening individuals, families and communities by addressing critical issues and needs, such as teaching parenting skills, improving nutrition and health, managing family finances, addressing child care needs, and others.

Classes are offered in managing chronic conditions, Arthritis Exercise, Canning and home preservation, Yoga for children, Cooking, Diabetes education, Matter of Balance, Stay Strong Stay Healthy, Human Development and so much more.

Family and Community Education (FCE) clubs are active in Henry County. Currently, we have 4 clubs. Each meet a certain day of each month are various locations. If you would like to become a member, we would love to have you!

  • Henry Bunns FCE-first Thursday of each month at 10 am
  • Center FCE-third Tuesday of each month at 11 am
  • Pleasant Hill FCE-third Monday of each month at 9:30 am
  • Town & Country FCE – second Thursday of each month at 9:45 am

ATTENTION ALL TEENS!

Teen Academy is a 3-day program offered each summer for you to learn basic life skills! Through this fun, interactive “academy” you will learn such skills as how to change a tire, how to cook, how to do laundry, how to check your oil in your car, pump gas, how to write a check and information on opening accounts, how to tie a tie, how to interview and fill out a job application, and much more!
