Welcome to Henry County!
The University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension in Henry County has a wide range of services and information available for farmers, homeowners and families.
For farmers, we offer soil and forage testing, weed, insect and disease identification, information on weed, insect and disease control, information on crop and animal production or onsite consultation. We offer whole farm or enterprise financial analysis, assistance in developing nutrient management plans, assistance in planning farm facilities, estate planning and developing record systems. We provide training for pesticide certification and proper pesticide usage and disposal.
For the homeowner, we offer soil testing, information on pest management, vegetable gardening, landscaping and turf care. Annually a Master Gardening class is also offered.
The Extension Service provides programs for the family including nutrition education...helping families establish lifelong healthy eating habits, financial planning...helping families develop spending plans to meet financial obligations, co-parenting education...teaching parenting skills for divorcing parents, and child care provider training...providing educational classes to help providers meet certification needs.
Extension's youth component offers 4-H programs for youth in grades 4 - 12 including a club for home schoolers, camp experiences, project groups, citizenship and leadership development, public speaking, judging team experiences and livestock selection and care.
